“David Hockney – 20 flowers and some larger photos”
“I think that’s what we need today: fresh images of this world that are so beautiful. » Imperturbably optimistic and frankly creative, the magician David Hockney, 85, returns to delight us with a set of digital drawings and an immense composition. It is therefore a small event that must be savored. Dated winter 2021, his long suite of flowers, tulips, roses or daffodils, gleaned from his Norman home highlights the transparency of a glass vase in the sun, the graphic effects of a blue checkered tablecloth or the cheeky splashes of color from the petals. Extremely simple subjects offer a bouquet of visual meditation, which we find, mirrored, in his large digital composition: paintings of twenty flowers hung on a blue wall contemplated by two men seated in armchairs; David Hockney himself, split! Spectral.
