the advance of the closing time of the terraces reaches the streets and squares of Ciutat Vella
The municipal government de Ada Colau in the Catalan capital extends its network to put an end to the night noise that prevents the neighborhood from resting. The time limitation of terraces in various streets and squares de Ciutat Vella enters into force this Friday, according to a resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Barcelona.
It affects about twenty points, where about 50 bars and restaurants in Gòtic and Raval they will have to close every day at 11:00 p.m. Until now they will be able to open until midnight on weekdays and until one in the morning on weekends.
The affected establishments are located in areas considered acoustically stressed at night in Ciutat Vella. Specifically, they are in Escudellers, n’Arai, Obradors between Escudellers and Rull, Còdols between Escudellers and Rosa, Nou de Sant Francesc between Escudellers and Rull, Carabassa between Escudellers and Rosa, George Orwell square, Rellotge passage, Escudellers passage between Escudellers street and Josep Pijoan, Joaquim Costa between Torres i Amat and del Carme, Tigre, Paloma, Sant Vicenç between Tigre and Ferlandina, Ferlandina between Joaquim Costa and the plaza dels Àngels, the plaza dels Àngels itself, that of Emili Vendrell, and d’Aglà and Vidre streets.
This measure is added to others that are being implemented in the district, within the plan to reduce noise pollution in the streets and squares. For example, last month it was decreed that food outlets of less than 150 square meters have to close at 10 pm.
The hours have also been extended, from 10 pm to 8 am, of the Prohibition of driving with skateboards in the Plaza dels Àngels and its surroundings.
Restoration Guild protest campaign
The Barcelona Restoration Guild has announced this Friday that it will launch “a protest campaign against the decision of the municipal government to advance the closure of the terraces in various parts of the city”.
Yesterday Thursday he carried out a informative action on Enric Granados street “to make customers aware of the decline that the city is experiencing in relation to its leisure offer”. “Seeing the good receptivity shown”, she will repeat this action during the spring.
The City Council, affirmed Roger Pallarols, director of the Guild, “tries to make believe that closing the terraces at twelve is a disparate. Well, andn Lleida and Girona they close at 00:30, in Valencia and Seville at 1, in Malaga at 2…”, he said. And he added: “Barcelona’s timetables were already among the most restrictive in Catalonia and the rest of Spain, and now they will be even more so.”
This month, the Guild file the first six contentious-administrative appeals against the time restriction of Enric Granados, the Jardins del Mediterrani and the Vila de Gracia, Sol, Diamant and Revolució squares.
