Stefano Maestri Accesi elected president of Confcommercio Province of Pisa

Sugar Mizzy December 2, 2022

Stefano Maestri Accesi, born in 1976, insurance agent, married with two children, for years at the top of the professional category, is the new president of Confcommercio Province of Pisa. His election took place yesterday afternoon, December 1st, during the general assembly which saw the extraordinary participation of the national president of Confcommercio Imprese for Italy, Carlo Sangalli.

At the Ricci auditorium, inside the Chamber of Commerce of North West Tuscany, an audience made up of entrepreneurs, traders, professionals, as well as executives of the provincial council and council, greeted the election of the newly elected president of Confcommercio. At the same time, Alessandro Trolese was confirmed as Deputy Vice-President; two vice-presidents, Valeria Di Bartolomeo and Massimo Bacherotti, new assignment with responsibility for the territory for Alessandro Simonelli. Altogether 15 board members.

After a dutiful minute of silence for the death of the former president Luca Ciappi, the order of business, moderated by the director Federico Pieragnoli, hosted the opening report by the president Stefano Maestri Accesi. Visibly moved, the president Maestri Accesi thanked the members of the board of directors who asked him to continue on the path he began a year and a half ago: “I accept this position today with great enthusiasm, and I will do it with the utmost commitment for the next 5 years , with the awareness and responsibility of representing the largest network of companies in Italy at the provincial level”.

The speech was much applauded, which touched on some of the most important topics for the provincial business system: the aftermath of the pandemic and the disastrous effects of the war in Ukraine, with the explosion of the energy crisis, high bills and the increase in the cost raw materials; the lack of personnel for companies in all sectors that cannot find workers and the specter of recession; hence the heated call to politics, whose reaction times have proven to be inadequate and slow compared to the urgency of the events: “We need politicians who know how to administer exceptional situations with custom”.

There was no lack of specific references to the territory and the importance of infrastructures, speaking of the “need for targeted interventions and objective reassurances on the erosive effects of dock Europe on the one hand, on the other the question of the Pisan airport incomprehensibly downgraded as non-strategic to make room for Florence, in a dualism that cannot be reduced to simple parochialism”. The president claimed the “need to guarantee more security, asking immediate and decisive interventions loudly”.

“Thanks to the renewed President Stefano Maestri Accesi for the invitation and the welcome. I am pleased to be here in Pisa sharing with you the beginning of a new mandate of that beautiful association, which is made up of history and identity, of representation and services, alliances and communities”, the national president Carlo Sangalli began his speech. “How can we forget that, according to mine, the energy emergency just for our sectors, from commerce, to tourism, to services, risks resulting in the closure of about 120,000 businesses with 370,000 workers. We all know that today there is the basic theme of the impact of the increase on the purchasing power of families and therefore on consumption. And therefore, on our companies. And our entrepreneurs, despite everything, continue to work, create good jobs and widespread well-being. And not by chance, the completely unexpected positive sign of the GDP in the third quarter mainly depends on our companies in the tertiary sector and tourism. It is a responsibility, of course, but it is also the demonstration of our essential function for the growth of the country”.

“Saving the production and distribution model of our country – this was the heart of the speech by the regional president of Confcommercio Aldo Cursano – when one of our representatives is elected it is a day of celebration, trust is delegated and Stefano has fully won this trust. Let’s feel like a community, together we can save our production and distribution model, based on conviviality and lifestyle, built on small businesses and work, a risky model that today is no longer standing, quite simply because outgoings exceed revenue. It is a problem for the whole country, the very identity of our territories is at risk”.

The mayor of Pisa Michele Conti once again emphasized the value of knowledge: “Pisa is the city of knowledge, university, tourism and commerce. There are different souls who coexist and dialogue, one needs the other. And we, as the Municipal Administration, have the burden and the honor of implementing virtuous development and coexistence policies, which aim at growth without leaving anyone behind. We are alongside those who work, those who do business, in support of category, very important intermediate bodies in our communities. For us mayors, dealing with the productive part is essential to making the right choices, there is a lot to work and we must continue to do it together”.

Congratulations to the newly elected president also from Valter Tamburini president of the North-West Tuscany Chamber of Commerce. “Congratulations to Maestri On for the re-election, who is also a colleague and an active member of the Board of the new Chamber of Commerce. The Tuscan coast has many critical issues to be addressed, especially with regards to infrastructure: the Pisa-Florence railway line is congested, it is not clear how Enac can define the airport of Florence and not that of Pisa as strategic, the entire Tuscan airport system must be strategic. The Fipili is the busiest artery in the Region and is in disastrous conditions. Our economy is not sustainable in these conditions, decisive interventions are needed. Full speed ahead with the light rail project that connects and unites Pisa, Lucca and Florence”.

Finally, Simone Giglioli, delegate of the Province of Pisa brought the greetings of the president of the Province Massimiliano Angori: “Best wishes to the president Maestri Accesi for the good work to continue the important work that Confcommercio carries out on the territory. Proximity trade and shops are essential for offering services to the area, and it is often the small villages and hamlets that host these realities. They are a point of reference and a garrison for the relationship and social networks of our communities, they ensure that our realities are alive and not just dormitories On the road system, the Province always coordinates interventions with trade associations to discuss works and think about mitigation works that can minimize the inconvenience, given that the safety of the territories must have priority “.
