There will be no complaint against Groengemeenteraad member Yasmia Setta for voting fraud. Green party leader Ilse van Dienderen will have to answer for her statements about this incident.

When voting on a movement at the municipality on Monday, it turned out that Annouri had cast a vote. However, he had long since left. Setta had been placed in Annouri’s place through his voting application. That is voting fraud and a criminal offence.
Setta also admits this to mayor Bart De Wever (N-VA) and the general manager of the city of Antwerp. In the e-mail traffic that we requested from the city of Antwerp, the councilor offers her histories and says that she no longer does. She said she was in an “impulsive mood”. This honesty is appreciated. The incident is considered a juvenile sin. “Mildness is appropriate,” writes De Wever in his email. So there is no complaint against her.
The mayor is less lenient for party leader Van Dienderen. Commenting on the incident earlier this week, she said it was possible for Setta to make a mistake. “There were problems with this application at the time of the following. It was a rather muddled affair”, says Van Dienderen.
In his email to Setta, the mayor is disturbed by the communication of her party leader. “It is submerged at odds with your version of the facts and at odds with the images,” writes De Wever.
Van Dienderen will have to account for this at the next meeting of the group chairmen.
