December begins with a new one 24-hour general strike which also concerns public transport: in Rome, on Friday 2 December, buses, trams and the metro stop, for a protest called by the regional secretariats of USB, Cobas, Cup Trasporti, SGB Alcobas, which adhere to the one called at national level by Sgc , Al-Cobas, Lmo, Soa, Adl Varese, Cib-Unicobas, Cobas Sardinia, Conf. Cobas, Cub, Sgb, Si-Cobas, Usb, Usi-Cit and USI.

During the strike, the service of escalators, lifts and stairlifts will not be guaranteed in the stations of the metro network that will eventually remain open, nor will the service of the ticket offices.
As regards instead Cotral, the buses, the Rome-Lido (new Metromare) and the Rome-Viterbo will circulate from the beginning of the service until 8.30 and then stop until 16.59 and resume the service from 17 to 20. From 20 until the end of the service the strike continues, with possible suppressions and hardships.
The previous 24-hour strikes proclaimed by Cobas, Cub, OrSA and Usb were those of October 11, 2021, when participation was 35.7 percent for surface vehicles and 20.6 percent for subways and railways granted, and of 8 March 2022, when membership was instead 32.2 per cent for surface area operations and 11.1 per cent for metro and railway operations granted.

The protest, as already explained, was called nationwide and involves many categories of workers of the public and private sector, not only bus and tram drivers but also health workers, school employees, motorway staff and in Rome also Ama workers. The strike comes after the mobilization of theNov 11th organized by USB Lavoro Privato, and anticipates the event scheduled in Rome for December 3rd.
Among the reasons put forward by the transport sector, the renewal of contracts and for the legal minimum wage of 12 euros per hour, the cancellation of the increases in the tariffs of services and energy, the freezing and price control of primary goods and fuels, the block of military expenditure and the shipment of arms to Ukraine, economic investments for all essential public services.
