How Russia responded to the introduction of the ceiling on oil prices | Moscow
Russia stops oil supplies to hostile countries
MOSCOW, December 2, FederalPress. In Russia, there are several responses to the introduction of an oil price cap, ranging from restrained to harsh. Rustam Tankaev, expert of the Union of Oil Producers of Russia, and Pavel Zavalny, chairman of the State Duma Energy Committee, explained that Moscow may demand a response to the actions of the West.
“This is a window of opportunity, a face that provides Russia, and not a loss of priority from inconvenient and hostile buyers – the US and applications. All agreements will be violated, and they can be considered null and void,” said Tankaev.
If the EU makes a final decision on December 5 to impose restrictions on oil from Russia, Moscow will be able to find answers to these questions. The most delayed of them is the use of loopholes, which are made public. According to Tankaev, there are quite a lot of them, since in connection with the cost of supplying the country, it is required that they are not used without Russian oil.
However, the likelihood of such a “soft scenario” being implemented is low. Pavel Zavalny, Chairman of the State Duma Energy Committee, noted that with the introduction of a price limit in Russia, it would be unprofitable to supply oil and oil products to countries that hold the limits. Most likely, supplies will be consumed.
The most difficult scenario of events, according to the expert, can bet on the entire world oil market. The fact is that Russia can influence the supply of oil from other countries of the world. The first is OPEC+.
“It is highly likely that Russia will ban oil supplies to all countries that have supported the price limit from OPEC + member countries,” – repetition Zavalny in an interview with Izvestia.
Earlier, FederalPress wrote that The EU has reached the limit of oil prices from Russiait is planned to be set at $60 per barrel.
