Mikuláš steam trains and Čertohráček will run in Prague this weekend
For the first weekend of December, České dráhy, in cooperation with the ROPID organization and other partners, prepared traditional St. Nicholas steam train rides. The center of the event will be the Praha-Smíchov railway station, from where a historic train headed by steam locomotive 434.2186, called “Čtyřkolák”, will depart on Saturday and Sunday, as well as the popular Cyklohráček, which will turn into Devil’s Player this weekend.
The historic train led by the steam locomotive “Čtyřkolák” will depart from Prague-Smíchov station on both days. On Saturday, sightseeing tours through the Prokop Valley to Hostivice and back through the Prague Semmering are prepared. Traditionally, the most attractive will be the Saturday evening ride, the highlight of which will be the fireworks at the station in Hostivica. On Sunday, the steam train will go on a tour through Posázaví to Týnec nad Sázavou, where a Christmas-decorated castle will be prepared. He will return via Čerčany and Říčany.
Čertohráček will also offer several rides on the weekend. On Saturday, it will take passengers from the Smíchov railway station to Říčany, Vraného nad Vltavou, or Roztok u Prahy. The last ride on Saturday will take passengers, like the steam train, to the fireworks display in Hostivica. On Sunday, Čertohráček will depart twice from Prague’s main railway station on a circular route through Kralupy nad Vltavou and Kladno.
Santa Claus and his entourage will pass through all the trains. All the good children will receive a small present from Nicholas, the devil will have coal from the locomotive ready for the naughty ones.
On Saturday, there will be an accompanying program at Praha-Smíchov station. There will be a garden railway, children from DDM will sing carols and you will also meet Elfík the elephant. You will also find stalls selling transport-themed items and refreshments will also be available. Those who want to discover a miniature world on the rails can take their historic bus to the Kingdom of Railways at Anděl. Karosa ŠD 11 and Karosa B732 buses will transport passengers free of charge on the circular route all day.
