Manner visits the Ivory Coast with FAIRTRADE Austria » Leadersnet
Manner visited Ivory Coast to talk to Fairtrade cocoa farmers about challenges and partnerships in sustainable cocoa cultivation.
The traditional company Manner visited the Ivory Coast in Africa with FAIRTRADE-Austria to talk to farmers, cooperatives and FAIRTRADE-Africa about challenges, project ideas and achievements in FAIRTRADE cocoa cultivation. Because cocoa is an important raw material – it quickly accounts for 30% of the raw materials used at Manner – one of the most important topics of Manner’s sustainability strategy. In order to tackle the enormous challenges in cocoa cultivation – from poverty to child labor to climate change – Weise relies on FAIRTRADE for sustainably implemented product responsibility.
“I am very impressed and also touched, because during the one-week cocoa partner trip from Abidjan to Gagnoa and Divo it became clear how important our commitment to fair cocoa cultivation is. The cocoa minimum price, i.e. fair remuneration for cocoa farmers and the FAIRTRADE The cornerstones of this fair partnership are the bonuses, which, among other things, make it possible to build schools, wells and initiate programs for the advancement of women.” i.e. Mag. Karin Steinhart, Head of Corporate Communications at Manner.
It is very important to Art to support FAIRTARDE and its commitment to sustainability, because sustainability is more than just a contemporary catchphrase for the company. Manner has lived sustainability since the company was founded in 1890. As early as 2012, Manner committed to converting all of its branded products from the company to sustainable cocoa by 2020 and was one of the first in the industry to do so. All Manner waffle and slice products, the Casali chocolate banana range, the Victor Schmidt Mozart balls and, since last year, the Napoli Drageekeksi are made regionally in Austria with FAIRTRADE-certified cocoa. Manner produces all of its chocolate from bean-to-bar, because high-quality chocolate is a central part of the confectionery classics.
