end of measures to restrict water use
The return of the rain in recent weeks has prompted the prefect to lever “all measures to restrict the use of water”.
The drought ends in the Pas-de-Calais. With the return of the rain, in recent weeks, “the rivers have gathered satisfactory flows and even sometimes experience floods linked to intense rains”, announces the prefecture, in a press release, this Thursday.
“The ass [période pendant laquelle une rivière est asséchée] are reabsorbed and the soils find themselves at a level of humidity of the season on the surface”, she adds.
“All restrictive measures” lifted
A situation which prompted the prefect to lift “all the measures restricting the use of water in the department”, starting this Thursday.
However, the prefecture warns that “special attention” will be paid to recharging the water tables. A point will also be made at the end of March, in order to assess “the risk of hydrological drought in 2023”.
Aware that this drought and its rainfall deficit have had a strong impact on agriculture and aquatic environments, the prefecture invites farmers and industrialists to reduce their water withdrawals and consumption. It also advises local authorities to set up an action plan.
The latter can find all the useful details, in particular from the departmental directorate for territories and the sea.
