“Angry about the disqualification, I didn’t do anything” – Corriere di Siena
Joshua Carboni he will not be able to take part in the next one Palio of Siena which will be run into Field Square. “I have a clear conscience, and frankly I am convinced that I have done nothing wrong”, declares the jockey, who does not hide his bitterness and his disappointment. The defense briefs presented by him were of no use. For Carbide a warning was triggered (and was confirmed by the council meeting), which goes on to match the pending one he already had: therefore there will be a disqualification Palio for him.
What Carboni has been accused of is “having launched the horse during the general rehearsal in contravention of the indications of the Veterinary Commission”. The fact refers to the general rehearsal of the July Palio. When Carburo entered the square with the jacket of the district of the Owls riding the horse Vankook, a subject that he coached among other things and that therefore Carburo knows very well. For Carboni it was a surprise return and pure anticipation of expectations: after the injury he sustained on Easter Monday in Legnano it seemed that recovery times could be longer for him. La Piazza greeted his return with astonishment already from the dress rehearsal. What happened from that moment on is now history. However, Carburo is embittered by the sanction received: “I was very upset about it – he comments – I didn’t think it would come to this. I’m angry, yes. Maybe it was better if I stayed home that day. And in any case, I repeat that I believe I have not done anything wrong ”.
It was certainly a special year for the jockey. After a very good first part of the season, in which Carburo stood out with the many quality horses he trains and has in his stables (think of Tale and Which and Schietta, just to name a few) Carboni ran into the very bad accident on Easter Monday in Legnano. Then recovery, flash, for him and that evening of the general rehearsal of the July Palio in Piazza del Campo. Which, then, triggered the warning and therefore the disqualification. And then the Career of August, in which he finally mounted in the district of Valdimontone on Solu Mar Due competing in a good Palio. He was also ready to “raise the level” in 2023 after what has been shown in recent times. Many executives have great esteem for him. But he will have to wait for a Palio to try to do it. “For me – says Carboni – it’s a bit of a period like this. I’ll have to roll up my sleeves, like I’ve done so many times in the past. Maybe if in 2023 there was also an extraordinary Palio. At the moment I’m training, I’m doing everything I have to do and even more to be at the top for the next racing season.”
