TOULOUSE

You can take the TER Toulouse-Colomiers with a metro ticket but Tisséo prefers the bus

Sugar Mizzy November 30, 2022

the essential
You can take the TER Colomiers-Toulouse/Arènes with a simple Tisséo ticket or the Pästel card. But there is no Tisséo counter at Colomiers station. And the management favors the bus, although much slower and subcontracted.

For decades, we have been riddled with the single pricing of public transport. What exists in Paris and in many European cities would be impossible in the Toulouse conurbation: take the train, metro, tram or bus with the same ticket, unifying the services of Tisséo, SNCF or, why not, buses Rainbow of the Department. Well, this single ticket has existed for 30 years on one of the most emblematic SNCF lines in the Toulouse sector, the TER depending on Colomiers and Toulouse (line C, which will have to change its name since the 3rd metro line will be called line C by Tisséo). You can indeed take the trains between the second city of the department and the Arènes-Saint-Cyprien station with a simple Tisséo metro ticket or a Pastel card. And this since a somewhat forgotten agreement between Dominique Baudis and Alex Raymond, former mayors of the two neighboring towns.

Single pricing but not really valued

The only concern, Tisséo is satisfied with a simple mention on its site: “On the C / TER LiO-SNCF line, between Colomiers Gare and the Arènes, your Tisséo ticket allows you to connect bus-metro-train in 2nd class”. But if you are looking on the Tisséo app for the fastest route between Arènes and Colomiers-gare SNCF, we suggest you take the Linéo 2, a 40-minute journey. Or the TER connection only takes 7 to 14 minutes (depending on whether it is direct or stops at intermediate stations)! Would Tisséo prefer to focus on its own buses? The Linéo 2, created recently, is subcontracted, with conductors not belonging to Tisséo. However, the Toulouse transport authority pays each year to the Region, competent for regional rail transport, financial compensation of 850,000 euros on tickets.
In addition, the user, if he does not have the sesame ticket on him, will not be able to buy one, neither at Colomiers station (he will find one at one of the 5 partner merchants around the station) nor at the SNCF station. des Arènes (a ticket office is located in the Arènes metro station).

Like what, there is no point in being a pioneer if we do not let it be known.
