The Andorran Music Band filled the Casa de Cultura in Santa Cecilia
The thirty members of the Andorran Music Band celebrated this past weekend the patron saint of musicians, Santa Cecilia, with the traditional concert on Saturday and the parade on Sunday. The public filled the forum of the Espacio Escénico de Andorra during the recital, which began with a tribute from the director of the Band, Javier Gracia, to Paco Camín, a musician from the group who died at the end of October.
During the concert, a repertoire was played made up of songs such as Casildo, Eighties Flashback, La la land, a tribute to John Lennon, Fiesta en la caleta, La vita e bella, Mambo Number 5, Adagietto and one last piece, A white palomica, which It was dedicated to Paco Camín.
On Sunday the acts continued with the parade to Santa Cecilia street and as is the tradition, the residents of the street distributed coffee with milk and pastries for the musicians. Then they paraded to the parish church where they took advantage of the mass in honor of the patron saint.
The Municipal Band of Andorra is made up of people of all ages, who carry out activities throughout the year such as the Three Kings Parade, Easter, the concert of Saint George, Saint Christopher and the local festivities. Over the years they have had the opportunity to play in many towns in the province of Teruel and outside of it. It also participates in the provincial meeting of music bands organized by the Diputación de Teruel.
Currently, the teaching work of training new musicians is carried out at the Municipal School of Music, one of the institutions that contributes the most to maintaining Andorra’s musical tradition.
