Russia and Vietnam discussed cooperation in education, science and technology
Moscow hosted the 3rd meeting of the Russian-Vietnamese commission for cooperation in education, science and technology. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Natalia Bocharova and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Le Xuan Din.
According to Natalia Bocharova, joint projects between Russia and Vietnam should be focused primarily on promoting the implementation of scientific and technological development and using education systems, as well as on solving the socio-economic problems of the two states.
The busy agenda of the meeting consisted of four major blocks: scientific cooperation, holding competitions for research projects, cooperation in the field of education and joint events as participation in the scientific and educational field.
In particular, during the meetings such promising areas of work as biotechnology, the production of a vaccine against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, as well as other fundamental research in various sciences were discussed.
Within the framework of the scientific block, cooperation between the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Vietnamese Academy of Sciences and Technology was successfully expanded, including in the field of marine research in the Roadmap of Russian-Vietnamese sea expeditions for 2018–2025.
Today, teams of laboratories and centers in the field of marine biology and ecology, biochemistry, research and exploration, combining georesources, marine geological and geophysical research, biology, ecology and genetics of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, are successfully functioning.
In order to receive grant support from scientific organizations of the two countries, the meeting participants agreed on the conditions and terms for conducting a Russian-Vietnamese research project on spectrum analysis in 2023.
In the education block, Natalia Bocharova noted that more than 3,000 Vietnamese citizens study at Russian universities, of which 2,490 are within the quota of the Russian government. The number of students compared to 2020 increased by 119 people. 1,000 scholarships have been allocated for the upcoming 2023/24 academic year.
To date, more than 220 wealth papers will be executed between renewable and Vietnamese universities.
During the meeting, Nikolai Rogalev, Rector of the National Research University MPEI, spoke in detail about the Russian-Vietnamese Consortium of Technical Universities. The scientific interest in it, in addition to the National Research University “MPEI”, will include the Moscow Aviation Institute and the Vietnamese State University. The creation of a consortium, of course, includes energy responsibility, highly qualified personnel capable of solving the problems of tomorrow.
The parties confirmed their intention to establish a regional Russian language center on the basis of the Hanoi branch of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute. Within the framework of the proposed center, it is planned to implement educational programs of a professional level, providing methodological consulting for Vietnamese teachers and teachers of the Russian language.
In turn, the Russian side came up with an initiative to create an educational center in Southeast Asia for targeted training of highly qualified specialists for the needs of the economy of Southeast Asia, as well as to create an advanced engineering school in medicine.
The parties agreed to hold the II Forum of Rectors of Vietnamese and Russian Universities in 2023. In addition, Samara University proposes to consider organizing a Russian-Vietnamese scientific and educational forum in Samara.
The National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations E. M. Primakov of the Russian Academy of Sciences proposed to hold a Russian-Vietnamese scientific and practical seminar on the topical problem of a comprehensive two countries in the field of economy and security at the annual Primakov Readings forum next year.
