The Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Notis Mitarakis, is participating in the 113th meeting of the Council of the International Organization for Migration, which is taking place in Geneva. It sent a clear message that Greece is not going to allow the smugglers to decide who will enter Greek and territory territory.

Specifically, Mr. Mitarakis, during his presentation, thanked the International Organization for Migration for its active participation and assistance to Greece during the last decade, difficult for immigration, noting that important work has been done for the facilities for the unaccompanied minors, the management of structures, medical care, integration programs and voluntary returns.

As the Minister of Immigration and Asylum said, there are many crises that aggravate immigration, such as climate change, overpopulation and food insecurity. At the same time, he noted that the international community should prepare in order to provide humanitarian aid to the countriesthey don’t need it, humanitarian visas where as well as legal immigration routes, with Greece, as he noted, it is not to contribute, as long as these efforts are in accordance with International Law and share the responsibilities fairly between the countries.
