Medical staff talk louder. A collective called Doctors for tomorrow“, bring together several thousand professionals working in the health sector and provide for action on the 1uh and December 2, 2022. He calls for the total closure of practices in France. With a resonance up to Toulouse.
Doctors for tomorrow, kézako?
But where does this group come from, created by Christelle Audigier, a general practitioner in Rhône-Alpes? If he says “apolitical and non-union”, he nevertheless insists on the fact that “it is above all to bring together all the doctors, those who work on the side, manage their family life, but who also want to fight to improve our health system: without jargon and without demagogic discourse“.
The collective brings together several thousand members. They were more than 8,500 at the end of October. The private group on Facebook account, on November 28, more than 14,000 members.
In the columns of News Lyon, the founder of the movement denounced the Retailleau bill, declaring that “many young doctors beware burnout, too many suicides are deplored. An obligation to practice in a medical desert is to put them in difficulty. It goes against liberal medicine”.
The consultation at 50 euros as a base point
One of the key demands is plastered on the majority of the banners that appear on the collective’s site: “the C at 50”. What does that mean ? ” The consultation at 50 euross. This is what the collective claims in the first place. »
As the latter explains, “our revaluation is necessary and behind this demand, there are concrete proposals to improve the quality and access to care for our patients and respond to their concerns, while reducing the working conditions of doctors”.
“Many of us are wondering, are skeptical, or even are outright opposed to a revaluation of the C to €50. In reality, with flat rates and subsidies, the act is remunerated between €32 and €40. around €35, the average increase would be €15.Finally, it is the share of the mutual that would increase from €7.5 to €15.Remember that mutuals have a net annual profit of several billion… , the European average sets the consultation fee at €46.”
Doctors from Toulouse follow the movement
Based in Toulouse for two years, Bénédicte Maril is part of a firm composed of five general practitioners. Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd December, the establishment will simply be closed. “We all wanted to close, we all share the same questions as for the future of our profession, we all share a certain suffering at work and we want to fight for save our profession“, she reacts.
“We see our working conditions deteriorating as we go. There will be the medical convention of 2023 with the first drafts of the government which do not go at all in the direction of the caregivers. This was the straw which broke the camel’s back. It was a bit of a trigger for a number of us, so I wanted to get involved in this collective because I love my job and I would like to continue to be able to do it. do it in good conditions.”
“I had my thesis in 2014, and in 8 years, the health situation in France has progressive degraded“, denounces Bénédicte Maril. Who recalls that “the central point is that we need a revaluation of the medical act, which offers us to invest in care, in our offices and to create jobs. We want to delegate administrative tasks which are overwhelming“.
The Toulouse doctor also underlines ” the doctor-patient relationship, the very essence of the profession of a liberal doctor and in particular of a general practitioner”. The objective is clear: “to show that community medicine is essential for the care. Without it, there are no hospitals, no this quality of care, through this special relationship with the patient which is specific to our profession”.
“This is the first act of the movement”
Bénédicte Maril who, “in active line, takes care of a little more of a thousand patients“, put a lot on these 48 hours which will launch December. “I await them with great hope. This kind of movement which raises liberal medicine as a whole, it’s quite unique. I hope that governments and patients will hear the suffering of the medical profession. »
And for the Pink City doctor, the beginning of the last month of 2022 can serve as a launching pad. “This is the first act of the movement. The closing of medical offices remains the main act. If we don’t have a response from the Ministry of Health and the government, there will be a second strike action,” warns Bénédicte Maril. This would take place from December 26 to January 6 inclusive“.
