From the Stock Exchange a Genoa model also for the agri-food sector
Genoa. The second edition of the conference “Live the sustainable experience” promoted by the Genoa Chamber of Commerce, SINU (Italian Society of Human Nutrition) and the University of Genoa took place today in the Sala delle Grida of the Stock Exchange building. After Massimiliano Spigno’s opening for the Chamber of Commerce, the councilor for economic development of the Municipality of Genoa Mario Mascia, the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, the delegate of the Rector of the University of Genoa Giulia Pellegri and the representative of the Roberto Galuffo regional school office.
Particularly awaited was the intervention of the FAO, which sponsored the conference by including it among the promotional initiatives of the World Food Day (WDF). Closing her keynote address on food systems and their impact on global greenhouse gas emissions, Patrizia Fracassi, Senior Nutrition and Food Systems Officer at FAO in Rome, said:
“There is a Genoa and Liguria model also with regard to the agri-food approach applied in this area, a model that synergistically takes into consideration the biodiversity of ecosystems, supply chains and food environments and the relationship between producers, restaurateurs and consumers. And it is a concrete example of how a healthy and balanced diet can be reconciled with the territorial promotion of an efficient, sustainable, resilient and inclusive agri-food system”.
