Brazilian singer and writer Chico Buarque will be performing in Portugal next year, taking advantage of the occasion to receive the Camões Prize with which he was distinguished in 2019.
Chico Buarque comes to Portugal to present “How about a samba” with four dates in Porto and Lisbon. The musician takes the stage at the Super Bock Arena on the 26th and 27th of May and performs at Campo Pequeno on the 1st and 2nd of June. one new Tour by the composer will have Mônica Salmaso as guest in both cities.
‘How about a samba?’ is also the name of single by the artist released in June. according to everything is new, promoter of the tour, the new show promotes “a walk through the decades-long work of Chico Buarque, which brings together compositions that have not been customized for a long time and more recent ones. The time jumps happen fluidly, as if the inspired songs were written now.”
The musicians accompanying the singer are “faithful stage companions”: maestro Luiz Claudio Ramos (arrangements, guitar and acoustic guitar), João Rebouças (piano), Bia Paes Leme (keyboards and vocals), Chico Batera (percussion), Jorge Helder (acoustic and electric bass), Marcelo Bernardes (winds) and Jurim Moreira (drums).
Writer, composer and singer, Chico Buarque, now 78 years old, was the winner of the Camões Prize 2019. The award ceremony was scheduled for April 25, 2020, but ended up being postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic.
