Athens Metro: Why line 4 will transform traffic in Athens

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Attica Metro, it is estimated that approximately 340,000 passengers per day will be moved with this project, 125,000 of whom are employees, while car journeys should be reduced by approximately 53,000 per day. Project innovations
One of the studies and innovations that will be installed is the operation of automated doors on trains and platforms for the safety of passengers, as in the Thessaloniki Metro. This means that the trains will enter the station, the security gates that open together with the train doors will also stop. Technologically advanced signaling and train control system. Also, the trains that are without a driver, their operation will be controlled through the Control Center of Line 4, trains of modern aesthetics made of materials friendly to the environment, almost completely recyclable.

Overall design of Line 4

Finally, according to the overall planning of Line 4, after the completion of the first section, from this position the second section of Line 4 to Maroussi begins. The area will therefore be upgraded to a transportation hub with Lines 3 and 4 of the Metro connecting the northern and eastern suburbs of Athens and the center.

The next sections that will be under construction are the following:

Section B: Goudi-Marousi (9.6 km long and 8 stations)
Section C: Evangelismos-Ano Ilioupoli (4.1 km long and 3 stations)
Section D: Alsos Veikou-Petroupoli (7.5 km long and 6 stations)
Section E: Marousi-Ethniki Odos (4.4 km long and 3 stations)
