The signers denounce “an alarming situation of public psychiatry”. These professionals from psychiatric hospitals are called upon to big day of strike this Tuesday everywhere in France. A rally is planned in Paris, in front of the Ministry of Health, at 11 a.m. And in Vaucluse, the carers of the psychiatric hospital of Montfavet, near Avignon, found themselves from 12:30 p.m. in front of the establishment.

They denounce both the lack of meansdoctors, nurses, beds and the suffering of the sick which has been getting worse since the start of the Covid epidemic. “We lose the meaning of our work, we are no longer required in care, summarizes Claire Moreno, psy nurse at Montfavet hospital and representative of the CGT. We can no longer be with patients because we are overloaded in front of computer screens”.

This caregiver even speaks of a disintegration of the entire health system in France. “We are on the verge of a collapse of our health system, a breakdown of the public service in general. We really need the means”, she begs. And this notably involves a general increase in salaries in the public hospital : “In the 1980s, a nurse received 1.8 times the Smic. Today we are at 1.2 times the Smic. Admittedly, there was the Ségur de la santé, but it is really insufficient and above all what we give on one side and have already taken it away from us on the other”.
