The eight mountains tells about the friendship between the city boy Pietro and the mountain boy Bruno. They meet at the age of 11 and have a wonderful time in the Italian Alps, but life is on the road. While Bruno stays true to his surroundings, Pietro travels around the world. Yet they find each other again.

Felix van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch not only directed this adaptation of Paolo Cognetti’s bestseller The Ottomontagnebut also the screenplay, and won prizes in Cannes earlier this year.
