Prague 9 lit up eight Christmas trees PRAGUE 9 | News
Prague, September 9. They are proud of a total of eight Christmas trees, which were gradually lit up de facto all over the city.
“There are different programs, because Prague 9 does not have a large center like Prague 2, which has Náměstí Míru, so there were more trees. For example, after the town hall, that is the most traditional tree, and then as Prague 9 grows, the residents want trees, so Zahrádky park, Přátelství na Prosek, Home for the elderly in Novovysočanská, Hrdlořezy, ice rink at Podvinné mlýn, and there is also a decorated thuja near Knoflík and the last Václavka park, where the Association for a happier Střížkov is doing it,” said Adam Vážanský, deputy mayor of Prague 9 municipal council.
Even the youngest residents of the ninth grade take an active part in decorating the Christmas trees. For example, the tree in the Přátelství park was helped to beautify the children who made Christmas decorations under the guidance of the workers of the Prosecco branch of the Prague Municipal Library, the tree for the elderly in Novovysočanská was decorated by children from the U Nové školy Kindergarten. And the program at the individual locations was under the thumb of young and old residents of Prague 9, mostly artistically gifted.
I don’t want to say it’s ours to do it, I don’t want to say it sparingly, but for it to be our “nine”, in addition to the choir, teacher Cantoria, children from the nursery school at U Vysočanského pivovar and graduates of various courses at the Gong Theater,” said Adam Vážanský, deputy mayor of the City of Prague 9.
And it was at the Vysočan town hall that the home choir of the City Council of Prague 9, Cantoria Praha, which was founded in 1985 by Jaroslava Halamová, sang. Since June 2018, the choir has been led by her daughter Nora Michálková, and currently the ensemble has 40 members.
“We sang Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s well-known composition “Let the whole world ring” and then the carol “Z Betléma se ózyvá”, which you may know from the folk group Spirituál quintet and the well-known traditional “The bell is already ringing from the mountains”, revealed Nora Michálková, chairwoman of the Cantoria Praha association.

“Christmas for me means a nice, pleasant time that I spend meeting friends. I think believers take it even more spiritually and differently.”
“For me, these are mainly holidays of peace and tranquility.”
“It’s mainly connected with such well-being, I meet my family, especially the children. I’m also already a grandmother and I’m expecting my third grandchild, so that’s also beautiful…Carols, well-being, family is happiness.”
“By the new year, I would like to wish our residents to manage all the crises, all the negations that are spreading towards us. To make it happen and to say how it was a hundred years ago, that it was much worse and we put up with it well and we liked each other,” said Adam Vážanský, deputy mayor of Prague 9.
