Blood – because we are talking about it – is a complex liquid tissue that performs many functions in action. It is also a life-saving agent and supports the treatment of many diseases. It cannot be made, but it can be enjoyed.
For 50 years, this activity has been carried out around the Honorary Blood Donors Club of the Polish Red Cross operating at the PKP Junction in Tarnów. Ryszard Pagacz, deputy voivode of Lesser Poland, attended the jubilee meeting today.
– The history of the Honorary Blood Donors Club of the Polish Red Cross at the PKP Junction in Tarnów is the successive generations of devoted and engaged social workers. Even in these most difficult times, they could count on your gift of heart. The year that is being celebrated is graded to grade. Let there also be an addition and planned further development of the Club – says the first deputy voivode Ryszard Pagacz.
During the meeting, particularly meritorious persons were awarded with distinctions. Among them were the Silver and two Bronze Crosses of Merit. The decorations awarded to the provision of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, were presented by the First Deputy Governor of Lesser Poland, Ryszard Pagacz. Departmental and Red Cross decorations, as well as special jubilee medals, were also handed over.
– When in 2020 the world was struggling with the coronavirus pandemic, the Club mobilized its strength to once again help those in need. Only as part of the action carried out at the St. Łukasz in Tarnów, 22,050 ml of blood were collected at that time. It is impossible to count how many people were saved in this way. Today’s decorations are also a symbolic thank you not only for that blood donation test, but also for every drop of blood collected – provided the deputy voivode Ryszard Pagacz.
