Green City Accord: From Vienna in connection with Brussels for adhesion to the European pact
During the work of the Eurocities cooperation platform underway in Vienna, the councilor for public works Mattia Giorno took part with a video link to another Eurocities event underway in Brussels, during which the development of the Green was discussed City Accord and the new cities that have signed up to the agreement, including Taranto.
The debate was opened by the European Commissioner for the Environment Virginijus Sinkevičius, who welcomed the new European cities and presented the related points of the pact on sustainable European urban development.
The Municipality of Taranto, together with the Municipalities of Bolzano, Tampere and Dresden, was invited for a greeting on behalf of the new cities that have recently signed up to the agreement. ‘To Commissioner Sinkevičius and the representatives present – said the commissioner Day – we have ensured Taranto’s commitment to carry out economic, energy and environmental transition interventions, in line with the axes of the Taranto Ecosystem. Beyond our joy for having joined the program, as desired by Mayor Rinaldo Melucci, we have made them an example of sustainable urban transformation through the creation of the Brt.
