Zurich: With over 220 things over the A1 through the Gubrist tunnel
On the night of Sunday, November 27, a 19-year-old man with a rented sports car really put his foot down. According to a statement from the Zurich cantonal police, the young man was noticed by a police patrol shortly before 1 a.m. when he was driving at full throttle in the overtaking lane on the A1 near Zurich-Affoltern. In the Gubrist tunnel he is said to have accelerated to over 220 kilometers per hour. The speed limit there is 100 km/h.
Police officers take the driver and passenger with them
According to information, the police patrol managed to stop and arrest the young racer shortly after the Zurich-Seebach exit. Police arrested the driver and the 17-year-old passenger at a traffic base where they were being questioned.
The 19-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings
After the questioning, the 19-year-old was removed from custody. As the canton police write, the young man is facing criminal proceedings on suspicion of a speeding offense. The police immediately took away his probationary driver’s license. They secured the rented sports car.
