Will the price of the metro ticket increase in Toulouse as in Paris?
In Paris, public transport fares could increase by up to 36%. In Toulouse, tariff increases are also assumed, but they are not energy-related.
Hard blow for the wallets of Parisians. An increase in transport prices in Île-de-France of up to 36% is likely. The price of the monthly Navigo pass would drop from 75.20 euros to 90 euros from July 1, 2023, and that of the metro ticket from 1.90 euros to 2.20 euros. The president of the Ile-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, calls on the government to increase the contribution of companies to avoid this scenario.
This, because the finances of Île-de-France mobilities “cannot bear the shock of inflation due to the war in Ukraine and the explosion in the cost of energy”, according to a document sent to the administrators of the mobility organizing authority, of which The Parisian was aware.
Next increase in the metro ticket in Toulouse in 2026
In the agglomeration of Toulouse, an increase in the price of the metro ticket, and more generally of transport tickets is also planned. However, it has nothing to do with the explosion in the cost of energy. It is linked to the development of the Tisséo offer.
On July 6, the Tisséo union committee voted the fee schedule for the period from 2022 to 2026. In particular, it decided to increase the price of the unit ticket, for the bus, metro, tram and cable car in Toulouse, by ten cents on September 1, 2022. It now costs 1.80 euros. Another increase, also of ten cents, is already planned for July 1, 2026.
The trade union committee also agreed to an “annual increase of 2% in discount tickets, the seven-day subscription and the 30 days 30 trips”, and a “revaluation of 31-day subscriptions for the general public each year, by one euro”.
Tisséo is not spared by the increase in the cost of energy
The public transport authority of the Toulouse conurbation has not yet had to deal with rising energy costs. The bill for six million euros in 2022 is blocked until the end of the year. During the traditional back-to-school press conference of the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, organized on Thursday September 15, it was indicated that it could reach 24 million euros in 2023. But the increase should not be passed on to users after the price increases decided during the summer.
