Why was Vinicius’ goal against Switzerland ruled out for offside?
Vinicius Jr appeared to have scored the opening goal for Brazil against Switzerland at Stadium 974 only to see it ruled offside.
Before the start of the counterattack, Richarlison was seen walking offside in the Swiss half. When the ball passed Vinicius, the Tottenham striker blocked Switzerland from chasing back, resulting in a stoppage of the game.

Vinicius controlled the ball skillfully, skipped a tackle and put the ball past Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer in what he thought was the first goal. However, his attempt was ruled out after a fairly long hiatus.
To add to the confusion, after a late VAR check, the referee pointed to the center spot for the offside free-kick, leading fans to believe it was a goal.
The Brazilians had been celebrating happily, only when the referees decided to draw the game back to a draw.
At the age of 35, Bento began his coaching career at Sporting CP. In the 2005/06 season, he led the team to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, finishing second behind Porto.
