The town hall of Toulouse wants to put an end to the illegal occupation of places reserved for people with reduced mobility in underground car parks

In the private underground car parks of Toulouse, it is not uncommon to see cars parked in places reserved for PMR (Persons with Reduced Mobility) without authorization.
Since 2017, with the implementation of several municipal decrees, the Toulouse police can intervene in this type of situation. This is not the case, for example, with car park security services. The latter can however prevent the police via a special number. The municipal police then go to the scene to impose a fine of 135 euros and impound the car.
Unfortunately, this procedure is not yet sufficiently applied according to the authorities. An agent of the municipality spoke to our colleagues from La Dépêche du Midi on this subject:
“Parking companies have little interest in reporting vehicles that are incorrectly parked in their car park. This remains a chargeable service and the incorrectly parked person is a customer of the car park”.
Far from settled
We therefore understand that, despite the power of the municipal police in this type of situation, things have not changed much. And with regard to car parks in private residences, the police cannot, for the moment, intervene.
