several homes supported by a mudslide in Boulogne-sur-Mer
At least six houses were funded by the mudslide, which reduced flooding and power cuts in several homes.
Several homes were supported by a mudslide this Monday at the start of the afternoon in Boulogne-sur-Mer, in Pas-de-Calais. At least six houses on the rue des Sirènes have seen their garages, gardens and terraces flooded by the muddy water.
“Today, I think the entire ground floor is lost,” testifies Stéphanie, a resident whose house was hit, at the microphone of BFM Grand Littoral. Inevitably, anything with a washing machine in water isn’t terrible. The boiler, the thermo-dynamic balloon, the lawnmower… all that is clearly dead.”
Flows from the water network?
The floods activated power cuts in several homes. Firefighters had to intervene to restore power. Veolia and the city’s technical services are also moved.
According to our information, it is a water network located next to the football stadium overlooking these houses which would have been blocked, causing a flow of water. Some homes were also supported by a rise in the water table, in addition to the mudslide.
The firefighters intervened accessible around 2:30 p.m. to pump the water in the cellars, report our colleagues from The voice of the North. Some owners were however absent and their houses could not yet be opened to see the damage.
