Red Bull Salzburg will return to winning ways with the Pioneers Vorarlberg

A tough program with three games in the win2day ICE Hockey League awaits EC Red Bull Salzburg again this week. Am tomorrow, Tuesday, we’re going to Feldkirch to see the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg (7:30 p.m., live stream), then on Friday we’re going to Innsbruck. The week ends on Sunday with the home game against Bolzano.
For the Red Bulls it’s a matter of gritting your teeth, pulling yourself together and pooling your strength for the tasks ahead. After the last three games they lost in the league – in between there was the defeat in Ängelholm at the hands of CHL title holders Rögle BK – the Red Bulls finally want to start again, but still have to make up for a number of convalescent players.
Especially after yesterday’s 6-2 draw against Black Wings Linz in front of their home crowd, the Red Bulls want to get back on their feet and get back to their game, says Paul Stapelfeldt: “The result stayed in the dressing room yesterday, the game is over. We have a new week with new games and that’s what we’re focusing on.”
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the team is going to Feldkirch for the first away game against the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. “We want to get back to our principles. It’s a team game, hard forecheck, we create chances through hard work, we don’t allow anything at the back, we want to be more compact there than in the last few games.”
This also applies to the team from Feldkirch, which is at the bottom of the table, but still knows how to play ice hockey. The 24-year-old defender: “No team is underestimated! Especially in our current situation, we should be very careful. That’s why we drive to Feldkirch with great respect, but we’re also very hungry and want to get back on the road to victory.”
A few young players from the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy, who have repeatedly stepped into the breach with the pros in recent weeks, will also help again. Just like the strikers David Cernik and Nikolaus Heigl, who sunk his first goal yesterday in his second ICE game. Paul Stapelfeldt again: “The cooperation with the youngsters is getting better from game to game and I am therefore in good spirits for tomorrow.”
The team will face Linz in Feldkirch with the same line-up as yesterday, so still without the convalescents Ty Loney, Troy Bourke, Tyler Lewington, Lucas Thaler, Mario Huber, Peter Hochkofler, Ali Wukovits and Florian Baltram.
