Men’s Serie A1, championship play off: Coach Palermo and TC Sinalunga Siena win away from home. In the women’s category, Tc Parioli wins, tied between Tc Rungg and Canottieri Casale
There was no shortage of surprises in the first leg of the championship semi-finals and in those of the 2022 Serie A1 men’s Serie A1 challenges to avoid relegation. The second leg is scheduled for Sunday 4 December. Once again this year, the www.federtennis.it website offers the live score of all the matches to allow fans to follow all the matches in real time, while SuperTennix, the streaming platform of the Italian Tennis Federation, broadcasts two challenges live (between men’s and women’s championships).
PLAY OFF
In its second consecutive playoff semifinal, Federico Gaio and Elmar Ejupovic’s TC Rungg Sudtirol lost at home 4-2 to CT Palermo (Salvatore Caruso, Omar Giacalone and the Spanish Carlos Gomez Herrera), a freshman who thus kept their unbeaten run. The Sicilian team has so far been the most successful team in the championship (five wins and one draw and first place in Group 2). In South Tyrol Caruso & Co. They closed the singles 3-1 and then defended the advantage in the doubles.
In the other match, the Park Tennis Genova of Gianluca Mager and Alessandro Giannessi lost their unbeaten run in the league after the 4-2 home defeat by TC Sinalunga Siena (Matteo Gigante, Marco Miceli and the Spanish Oriol Roca Batalla), another terrible freshman of the tournament. For the Ligurians, tied after the singles, the doubles were fatal.

GAME
Canottieri Casale still has to wait to toast to their first victory in this A1 series: in fact, in the first leg of the playouts, the Casale Monferrato club drew at home 3-3 with Stefano Travaglia’s TC Italia Forte dei Marmi and Walter Trusendi, third in Group 4 (the most balanced of this championship), in contention for a place in the playoffs until the last day.
On Saturday, TC Prato was defeated 4-2 at home by TC Crema. Too bad for the Tuscans, ahead after the first two singles, won by Niccolò Baroni and Federico Iannaccone: but then Samuel Vincent Ruggeri and Andrey Golubev, who scored both in singles and together in doubles, overturned the result together with the other Lombard doubles Ungur/Bresciani. It should be remembered that Crema (like Forte dei Marmi) is the team that ended up in the playoffs with the most points (8).
Home defeat for TC Genoa of Next Gen Matteo Arnaldi, beaten 5-1 by Sporting Club Sassuolo of Enrico Dalla Valle, Federico Bondioli and the German Daniel Masur, who scored in both singles and doubles.
Finally, the Junior Perugia of Nex Gen Francesco Passaro, last in Group 4 – the most balanced of all – and who found himself playing the playouts despite the 7 points he won, won 6-0 over New Tennis Torre del Greco, outgoing champion, finished third in Group 2 after the forfeit defeat due to impracticability of the field in the home match not played against TC Pistoia on the last day. The Campania team already has more than one foot in A2.

In the other challenge, BAL Lumezzane (Anastasia Piangerelli, Chiara Carini, Rubina De Ponti) was defeated at home 4-0 by TC Italia Forte dei Marmi (Jasmine Paolini, Claudia Giovine, Anastasia Bertacchi), finished in third place with three victories and three defeats in a hard-fought Group 2.
