for Nice, metros/trains to Sophia Antipolis and Monaco in project
The Elysée promised this weekend to develop in the regional metropolises “ten RER”, this public transport network with a rail gauge serving Paris and its agglomeration.
Will we, in the next ten years, finally be better circular between each of the major centers of the Riviera?
“To fulfill our ecological ambition, I want us to have a great ambition, which is in ten large cities, ten major French cities, to develop an RER network, a network of urban trains”.
THE FOLLOW-UP AFTER THIS AD
In a video posted on YouTube, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron announced his objective of providing the “main cities” of a daily rail transport network, to promote the ecological transition and make our journeys more fluid.
“Where we have thrombosis, where there is too much traffic, where travel is complicated, we must have a real urban transport strategy and that is a great objective for the ecology, the economy, life quality”.
Some projects are already “advances”, others “are at the study stage”, and will put “ten years or more to be fully finalized”.
What’s planned in the 06?
In Nice, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis will certainly be the first in line to lead this type of file.
Also Nice-Presse requested this November 28 Christian Estrossipresident-delegate of one and president of the other, to find out what is in the cards for our territory.
Here are his answers:
“I am delighted that the government is joining us and that the President of the Republic is taking this problem head on. We already have projects that are just waiting to be developed”.
“I would mention two interurban projects which seem to me essential to finally benefit from this complete transport offer which we are lacking”.
“To the East, a partially buried metro project, between the Metropolis and Monaco, with a 9.5 km line. Where we know that despite the significant investments on the part of the Principality on the roads, the daily problem of access and exit will only be solved by transport on a clean site with a high level of service, and decarbonized”.
“To the West, a RER project which will connect Nice to the Sophia Antipolis technology park, via Villeneuve-Loubet and Antibes, and thus finally create a direct link between our common activity centers for the daily journeys of 41,000 motorists using the A8 motorway”.
