ANTWERP“A shame what you’ve done and a shame how you’ve done it.” Numerous Flemish television stars support the student protest against the cultural cuts in Antwerp in a video message. Aldermen Nabilla Ait Daoud (N-VA) is head over heels for them. “Much pain, little heart.”

The student protest For Future against the culture cuts of ships Nabilla Ait Daoud (N-VA) has already managed to harness many well-known actors and screen faces and that is no different a month and a half after the outbreak of the protests.
In response to Monday evening’s municipality, which must be connected to the new budget and the many cutbacks in youth and culture, among others, the protesting students are once again standing guard at the town hall. They also lost a video message with familiar headlines in the loop of the day. Warren Borgmans calls culture enriching, as a bread and whole-hearted foodnecessary. Tom van Dyke minimal ships so as not to play stupid and Frank Focketyn advocates investing in culture. “Because investing in culture is investing in life and in a warm city.”
Dimitri Leu agrees with the scrapping of ‘project subsidies’, but wants ‘project investments’ instead. Jaak Van Assche reads from the party program of N-VA, which states that cultural improvement, entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and the social fabric reinforce each other. “Can I point out to the aldermen that project subsidies are the start of all this?” Actress See Eggers doesn’t know what to say and just sits there blowing and sighing among the art students.
dialogue
The sector also does not understand why it is so difficult to enter into a dialogue with the ships. Former city poet Ruth Laster and her students wonder why Ait Daoud is so afraid of that. Bruno Vandenbroecke confirms that dialogue is always the best choice and Josse De Pauw speaks of a double shame: “A shame what you did and a shame how you did it.”

Els Dottermans says that Antwerp needs a ship that starts with culture. “We do not have that. I’m sorry.” Peter de Graaf NL Veerle Baetens confirm that: “Nabilla Ait Daoud is not my alderman of Culture.”
Continue the work
The majority of BVs fixate on Ait Daoud’s statement that “art students should work for their money, like everyone else”. Michael Pass NL Clara Claymans led them to not have time for video messages, because they are constantly working in the theater. Also Wim Opbrouck, Greg Timmermans, Ikram Aoulad, Joke Emmers, Karlijn Sileghem, Marie Vinck, Ruth Becquart, Dominique Van Malder, Natali Broods NL Natalie Meskens hurriedly says “that we have to work for our money”.
Author and rated city poet Tom Lanoye repeats the students’ slogan: “A lot of pain, little heart”, a parody of the words of the ships that they are implementing this saving “with pain in the heart”. Gene Bervoets repeats that statement. Chris Lomme also, with a heavy sigh, closing the video message.
