Filip apologized to the ex-mayor of Prague 6. He linked Kolář’s family with the Nazis
“Under the weight of the evidence and perhaps even his own conscience, the former chairman of the KSČM signed this apology with his own hand,” wrote the current MP Kolář on Twitter on Monday and attached a photo of the apology.
“Chairman JUDr. Vojtěch Filip apologizes to Mgr. Ondřej Kolář for the false statement of fact that in the family history Mgr. Koláře was a member of the Gestapo,” reads the text, signed and dated 11/28/2022.
Vojtěch Filip confirmed the apology to Seznam Zprávám, saying that he was prompted by the course of the discussion. However, he did not want to comment further on it.
References to the alleged Nazi past of Kolář’s family appeared in connection with the removal of the statue of Marshal Koněv.
In autumn 2019, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky called the mayor a Nazi. A post that Ondřej Kolář is the grandson of Gestapo agent Otta Kolar subsequently began to spread on social networks. For example, he completely overlooked the fact that Kolář died in 1945, while Ondřej Kolář’s father – former diplomat Petr Kolář – was born in 1962.
When, a few months later, Filip was asked on a talk show what he said about the statements of the Russian minister, the head of the Communists let himself be heard that “that is the mayor’s family history”. Kolář replied that Filip was a pig and later filed a civil suit against him.
