Bishop Ferenc Palánki blessed the workers and the building of the fifty-year-old ambulance station in Debrecen | Hungarian Courier
Before the blessing ceremony, the county bishop also expressed his gratitude and good wishes to the workers of the ambulance station on the occasion of the anniversary on behalf of the local communities of the historic churches.
He recalled: during this year’s ecumenical week of prayer, the donations collected in Debrecen by was offered to a local ambulance stationand in addition to the sum, a Vscan Air UH prehospital diagnostic device was acquired for about HUF 1.9 million.
The archbishop explained that with this donation they also wanted to express that the churches also attach great importance to the service of those who work here. After that, he asked for God’s blessing on the workers of the Debrecen ambulance station and their loved ones.
The ambulance station was established in the Alföld city 25 years after the 75-year-old National Ambulance Service was established, but the ambulance service in Debrecen actually has a history of almost 120 years. This is one of the largest of the country’s 250 ambulance stations.
The 220 employees working and serving here have already treated 30,000 cases this year. About 350,000 people live in the service area of the ambulance station – in Debrecen and its catchment area.
At the celebration event, the blessing ceremony and speeches of welcome, the following rescue demonstration, and NYSA ambulance demonstration were also held, and the “street wall” prepared for the 50th anniversary was also handed over.
