The Christmas of events in Pisa has begun: all the initiatives
Christmas in Pisa lights up with the rich calendar of initiatives, attractions, shows and craft markets. Confcommercio was awarded the tender published by the Municipality of Pisa for the management and planning of events and activities in the historic center and on the coast, which officially kicked off yesterday, Saturday 26 November, with the ribbon cutting in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in the presence of the authorities.
“A truly extensive program suitable for all ages, which will continue until Sunday 8 January”, enthuses the president of Confcommercio Province of Pisa Stefano Maestri Accesi. “We enter the period more important of the year for the turnover of the activities and we are putting all our energies into the field to create an even more lively and welcoming city during the holiday season”.
“We are happy to see a Christmas market redeveloped also in its aesthetic aspect and many initiatives organized by Confcommercio which will certainly be frequented by many Pisans and beyond, a truly original way of experiencing the city”, declares the mayor of Pisa Michele Conti. “Our administration is committed to making the city beautiful and welcoming by providing lights for Christmas lighting, even in a complicated moment due to rising energy costs, but in this holiday season we believe it is even more important to launch a message of hope and positivity”.
“Pisa is turning into a true Christmas city – adds the Councilor for Commerce Paolo Pesciatini – the city demonstrates its ability to attract tourists even during the Christmas period, with quality markets and initiatives that will impress citizens and visitors at a time of already full of events and exhibitions”.
“We can speak of a widespread Christmas that expands throughout the historic center and beyond, as demonstrated by the event of the entrepreneurs of the Vie en rose, in via San Francesco. the involvement of the Cep district, and many activities on our beautiful coast”, explains the president of the historic center of Confcommercio Pisa Massimo Rutinelli. “Pisa is known all over the world for its historical monuments, but it is important to create the premises to have more tourist flows in all periods of the year, also thanks to an initiative like this capable of attracting real winter tourism to the city”.
The program
Piazza Vittorio Emanuele hosts the traditional ice rink, decorated with special decorations and lighting, for the first time available to local schools who will be able to use it exclusively for activities with students. Santa’s house and the suggestive Christmas market with 20 wooden houses, where it will be possible to buy handicrafts and gift items. The ice rink will be inaugurated with the figure skating exhibition ‘Gli Angeli dell’amore’.
In Piazza del Carmine and Corso Italia the wooden houses intended for the sale of decorations, brigidini and sweets christmas.
Piazza Gambacorti is the heart of the initiatives dedicated to children, with the installation of the Christmas sphere where children and parents can take selfies in a fairytale setting and the shows itinerants that from ‘Piazza della Pera’ will involve the main squares of the historic center, with street bands, stilt walkers, folk bands and bagpipers. For the first time it will even be possible to drive an innovative virtual sled and distribute gifts in the company of Santa Claus thanks to the fantastic simulated driving experience guaranteed by a special state-of-the-art viewer. Children will also be able to deliver their own letter to Santa Claus and his faithful elf. Animation in the streets and squares of the historic center is also guaranteed with the new ‘Moto Folk’ initiative, with the typical Christmas carols sung by a couple of Santa Clauses aboard a sidecar.
The entire area of Logge dei Banchi is decorated with a Christmas theme and enriched by 25 stall in wood with handicraft products, while in Piazza Garibaldi for all the weekends of the event, and continuously in the period between 18 and 24 December, it will host the traditional hobbyist market.
In Largo Ciro Menotti the gazebos dedicated to gastronomic excellence and typical Christmas sweets, while in via San Francesco and via Dini a further hobbyist market will alternate on the weekends, and also the entrepreneurs of the ‘Vie en rose’ will organize a new event in via San Francesco.
The installations and initiatives are created in collaboration with CollEventi and Etruria Eventi.
Even in the neighborhood of cep for the first time the Christmas-themed hobbyist market will be set up, while the first appointment on the Pisan coast will be on Thursday 8 December in Tirrenia with ‘Sorriso in Moto’, an initiative dedicated to motor therapy in collaboration with the association ‘Eppur si mosse’ , which will allow boys and girls with disabilities to get on the saddle of a motorbike in organized routes in safety to spend an afternoon of joy and light-heartedness, where there will be a stand of the non-profit association ‘Il Sorriso di Andrea’.
The events on the coast will continue with ‘The Magic of Christmas on the coast’ scheduled in Tirrenia and ‘Marina Christmas Time’ in Marina di Pisa, to conclude with the ‘Festa della Befana’ on 6 January.
