Fully booked for guided visits to the airports of Venice, Treviso and Veronawho also joined this year “Open Factory”the initiative organized by Italy Post together with the Italian Touring Club with the aim of spreading the industrial and manufacturing culture of our country.
The management of the three airports of the North East Airport Hub guided a number of participants in dedicated courses, allowing them to get to know the “behind the scenes” of the complex organizational machine of a System which from January to October recorded a total of 12.6 million of passengers, which indicate 80% of the traffic volumes achieved in the same period of 2019.
Venice
In Venice, visitors to Marco Polo airport witnessed the landing and take-off phases of aircraft from a privileged position and visited some of the main operational structures, which are crucial for the activity of an airport, including the fire brigade and the BHS (Baggage handling system), the modern and technological baggage handling system of the third national intercontinental airport. The meeting with the falconer introduced the guests to a technique with an ancient charm, which effectively contributes to the safety of flights. According to the latest forecasts, the airport will close the year with 9.2 million passengers.
Treviso
At Treviso’s Antonio Canova airport, the visit unfolded along the passenger terminal, the aircraft apron and the perimeter of the runway. The Fire Brigade illustrated their activities and methods of intervention in the event of dangerous situations.
In the first ten months of the year, the airport reached 2.2 million passengers, with a forecast to close 2022 with 2.8 million.
Verona
Verona’s Valerio Catullo airport, in addition to registered visitors, hosted students and researchers from the Academy project, an intensive training program on industrial and manufacturing culture issues curated by Goodnet Territori in Rete.
The highly articulated visit covered the various areas and activities of the airport, from the passenger terminal to the aircraft apron and hangar. Also in this case, the availability of the State Bodies was fundamental, with the involvement of the Fire Brigade, who simulated their intervention, and of the Guardia di Finanza with a demonstration by the dog unit. The Border Police and the Customs Agency illustrated their respective control procedures at the airport.
