Since December, Slovakia has been launching Datalink, an advanced data connection system in air transport
From December of this year, even planes flying through Slovak airspace will be able to use Datalink. It is an advanced data link system in aviation, which serves to send information between the aircraft and air traffic control and complements the traditional voice communication between the cockpit and the air traffic control center.
“This system will increase the capacity of air traffic and also its safety. Employees of the Slovak Air Traffic Services (LPS SR) have an extremely demanding and responsible profession, and therefore I welcome any improvement that will make their work easier.” said Minister of Transport and Construction Andrej Doležal. By introducing Datalink, Slovakia complies with the European Commission regulation from 2009.
In addition, we are delaying its deployment, which is according to the head of the department of transport responsible for managers. “Nearby countries have been using Datalink for several years, and Slovakia is one of the last EU countries to introduce it. I am very happy and thank the whole team for the fact that we managed to catch up after the new management of LPS SR took over,” Martin Kabát, director of LPS SR, evaluated.
The state-owned enterprise Letové přednáské služby SR was established in 2000. Its primary task is the regular and orderly flow of air traffic, it restricts aircraft in the air and on the ground and provides the information necessary for the safe execution of flights in the specified airspace and on the designated network.
