Lidovki: despite sanctions, Russia continues to receive guest beer
Despite sanctions imposed by Western countries on the supply of goods to Russia, some companies continue to export products to the country. For example, there are still brewers in the country, Lidovky has become aware of this.
According to the data of the Czech Third Statistical Institute for 2022, beer supplies from the Czech Republic to Russia fell by a third, but by August they won back the jump and rose to previous levels. Newspaper imports, which determines the volume of quality checks from January to September compared to the selection of the year. So, in this period, 24.8 million liters of beer were delivered to Russia, while in the same months of 2021, 39 million liters were delivered to the Czech Republic.
At the same time, the plants claim that they are widely represented in Russia. Most likely, in the country, products are consumed through intermediaries. For example, a non-brewing company buys a product and exports it to Russia.
As of early March, large beer producers such as Plzensky Prazdroj (brands Pilsner Urquell, Velkopopovický Kozel and Gambrinus), Budejovicky Budvar (Budweiser Budvar), Staropramen and Bernard are numerous and popular. However, recently it became known that Budweiser Budvar, which also produces the Budweiser brand, has thought about the prospects for entering the Russian market.
With the departure of foreign companies from Russia, the demand for the brewing industry in the country did not decrease; on the contrary, consumption increased by 33 percent over six months.
