While FIFA President Gianni Infantino delivers and delivers one controversial appearance after the other before and during the World Cup in Qatar, it becomes known that the Valaisan has moved his residence within Switzerland from the canton of Zurich to Zug. Research by the “Sunday Newspaper”.
Accordingly, the move took place in June of this year. According to the report, Infantino now lives “in an anonymous, gray block of flats in a quiet block of flats”. FIFA confirmed the move to the newspaper without comment.
By changing their place of residence, the Infantinos save on taxes. Infantino’s rumored salary as FIFA boss is around four million francs. The canton of Zug would thus collect an additional 228,000 francs in tax money, and the municipality would have received another 153,000 francs – around half the amount that would have been ceded in the previous place of residence Küsnacht in Zurich.
Infantino, who grew up in Valais, also has a second home in World Cup host country Qatar. Before the World Cup, the 52-year-old stayed mainly in the capital Doha, where he rented a house.
In a CH Media interview in May, Infantino explained that he thinks it’s important to be on site a lot before a World Cup is held. He is therefore also planning to move into a temporary apartment on site for the next event, in 2026 in the USA. For the time being, the pugnacious FIFA boss is delivering the taxes in Zug. (con)
