PRAGUE

Alcohol tourism is looked at by a special unit of the website, to the mayor of Prague 1

Sugar Mizzy November 27, 2022

What do you think is the biggest problem of Prague 1 and how do you think it can be solved?
That problem is a long list. Related, for example, to negative phenomena that accompany tourism. There are also traffic problems. And we must not forget the economic crisis. High energy prices affect us because we manage our own real estate, for example bikes. we also have social impacts on our residents. Let’s look for ways to give a helping hand to those who will have it the most.

How do you deal with transport problems?
Prague 1 is a huge transport hub. We will continue to try to get transit traffic from the center. But this can only be done in coordination with the mayor and the surrounding municipalities.

Would the introduction of a meter for the entrance to the city center, which Prague, for example, has in its climatic fullness, solve the traffic complications?
I personally am not a big connoisseur of things. For example, the residents of other city streets would be very angry at him. They would have to purchase the entire Prague 1 or the entire center. Going from Prague 5 to Prague 7 via Stodlky would be pointless, of course. The second problem is not transit transport. The worst thing is that Prague 1 absorbs a huge amount of cars like a mushroom every morning. We will try to prevent this to a certain extent by radically reducing the number of parking lots in the city. We are not allowed to have parking spaces, but we want residential buildings to be residential only. We take, for example, the tracks of parking tickets for companies. This will seriously reduce the traffic in the center, because a large part of the traffic in our streets is made up of motorists who rotate for twenty minutes looking for a place to park.

How many issued parking cards are the number of parking tickets you have on the streets?
170 percent of parking cards are issued for 100 percent of parking spaces.

Are parking cards nrokov? How would you like to dream their dreams?
Residents come first. You have the right to a parking card, which is issued against the municipal license. Then there are the so-called subscription cards. Companies can get them, you can have them with us. And rent them as well as hotels. But companies often only have a virtual meeting. Thanks to this, they also have a request for a subscription card, which is more expensive than the one for residents. But this whole agenda will be under the magistracy. The division of competence between the city centers and the capital is our permanent pain.

If the parking permit can be reduced, you won’t have a problem?
Jet dleitj is the completed Mstskho circuit for us.

New mayor

Prask editorial office of MF DNES pin series interviews with new and old mayors from the main cities in the metropolis. The main topics are not only the current problems of Praan, but also the stability of coalitions and insight into the future, as the newly elected representatives of the public want to develop the country.

Last year, Prague 1 was the subject of criticism due to the lack of parking spaces on the sidewalk in Nerudov or in connection with the change of the roundabout at Pran brny…
The sweat of the parking spaces is not one. The parking spaces in Nerudová street are extremely rare. There were a lot of cars parked at two, and that one is extremely unlucky. I wish there was a sidewalk again in that disputed area. I haven’t taken any steps yet, but it’s not nice. There are cars on the sidewalk, and from an aesthetic point of view, it’s an abomination. The established parking lot there was already a positive step towards the hotels there, not even for the local residents, who did not live near many of them in the town. Some 200 meters long, there are many other parking spaces. There must have been some reasons for the introduction of the aforementioned roundabout. There was probably some assumption that this would help the traffic, but in layman’s terms it seems to me that this is not the case.

The court spoke to the new traffic jam…
I don’t know the details about it, because the shipping is not completely under my control. If there is something wrong, it must undoubtedly be corrected. But I don’t want to say anything.

Will you revise all the past decisions of the city management in some depth?
We will definitely talk about some things. But it’s not the case that the mayor says something and everything goes on.

What do you know about tourism, which you mentioned during our interview as one of the biggest problems in your city?
Probably the biggest balk problem that we suffer is related to him. It’s about noise, poulin crime. It is also common to meet local residents with shared bikes and scooters.

During the covid period, Prague planned to charge more for tourists traveling for culture instead of the so-called alcohol tourists. In your opinion, was it possible to fully fulfill at least one of these walls?
This one must exist, because otherwise we will have one big pub here and our inhabitants will move away. It is necessary to approach the problem from different sides. It is necessary to consistently penalize the restaurant establishment, it goes against the standard rules, such as, for example, the rule of thumb.

What do you mean by that?
It is, for example, about hygiene or the destruction of alcohol in front of these businesses. It is necessary to intervene absolutely uncompromisingly and consistently. We must also take action against alcohol tourists. Especially against those who behave inappropriately on the streets.

How do you get the tools for this? Municipal police d magistert…
It is possible to cooperate with the city police on these matters, and we will press for it. We plan to create a specialized unit of the city police that will deal with alcohol tourism. If the police can intervene against football hooligans, then the exact same model could work against drunken tourists. it would be a specialized police officer for this issue. The prerequisite is, for example, knowledge of foreign languages and completion of various psychology and meditation courses.

A regular visitor to Prague 1 cannot help but notice the ubiquitous drug addicts…
This problem is really very intense in the center. Because of this, it is necessary to get into this community. Some of the non-profit organizations we cooperate with are working on this.
