VIDEO. Toulouse: start for a magical but sober Christmas 2022
Toulouse is ready for the holidays. Reasoned illuminations, entertainment and gourmet chalets await you now.
The start of the Christmas festivities was given yesterday, and for the first time, from the Ramblas (allées Jean Jaurès) in Toulouse by Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse and President of Toulouse Métropole. It was Jean-Baptiste de Scoraille, deputy in charge of public lighting, who launched the countdown to the lighting of the giant Christmas tree on the Ramblas, as well as all the market areas, with the Toulouse residents present. With economical decorations and illuminations which will go out from 10 p.m. in all districts, a Christmas 2022 placed under the sign of energy sobriety, but which has lost none of its magic, as many visitors testify.
The Christmas market spans three locations
Jérôme and Delphine, taking advantage of this first day without rain, came from the Toulouse suburbs with their three children. “We must keep the magic of Christmas, especially for toddlers. Saving energy is good, but everyone has to play the game, starting with the big brands, which also have to turn off their neon lights,” comments Jérôme. An opinion shared by Nathalie and Patricia, even if they have no children, and many others.
Accompanied by Toulouse residents and associated with the Los Soupaeros brass band, the elected officials then strolled to the three sites that are hosting the Christmas market this year. Making their way between the twenty chalets on the Ramblas dedicated to craftsmen/creators, they continued towards the Square Charles de Gaulle, its 14 exhibitors, its forest of fir trees and its sublime decorations, to end with the Place du Capitole, where the crowd was very dense on this Saturday evening. Note that the festivities are also present on Place du Salin and Place Saint-Pierre with rides and attractions for the joy of the youngest as well as gourmet chalets, not to mention the Allées Jules Guesde where the Artisanal and Solidarity Christmas Market is held.
