Stig Hoffmeyer is dead – VG
The Danish actor Stig Hoffmeyer has died, aged 82. He is known, among other things, from the Norwegian blockbuster «Max Manus».
This is reported by Danes Extra Magazine.
Hoffmeyer died on Friday at the age of 82, after some time of illness. He died in hospital, the family told the Danish news agency Ritzau.
He was with his wife and two children when he died.
Hoffmeyer is known for his role as the murderer in “The Crime”, as well as King Haakon VII in the Norwegian blockbuster “Max Manus”.
In an interview with VG in 2012, so he remembered back to the recording of «Max Manus» with great pleasure.
– My role was not that big, but some of the scenes were absolutely fantastic with a large supply of extras. I also remember that it was a role I spent a lot of time preparing for. I listen through countless tapes of speeches to manage and get his very special Danish-Norwegian, Hoffmeyer said at the time.
His last role was in the series «Riget Exodus» by Lars von Trier, who got dice roll four by VG’s reviewer.
Ekstra Bladet writes that Hoffmeyer grew up in Paris, where his father was a diplomat.
He later trained as a lawyer, but quickly switched to being an actor. He has worked at several theater stages in Copenhagen.
He has also been a voice actor, and provided the Danish voice for several cartoons and animation films. Among other things, he starred in «Shrek 2», in which his wife and daughter also starred.
