Flers, Alencon, Argentan: Baptist Gourio is currently not out of place. The center-forward of La Maladrerie continues the matches against the teams of his department, Orne, and will complete this series with a trip home. On December 3, Baptiste Gourio will feel a little at home. It was at Argentan that he revealed himself. “I arrived there in U14. In U17, I had Yoann Néris as a coach. He trained me with him when he took over the first team. »

Without going through the U18 box

The former striker had perceived in the young man from Gacé qualities to be developed. Baptiste Gourio was immersed in the deep end of Regional 1 as soon as the rise of his club was recorded. After a season ruined by the Covid, he stood out by registering 11 but at only 18 years old. “I made good stats for a first season,” he admits.

Numbers that did not pass in the previews among the opponents. Maladrerie coach Frank Dechaume spotted the boy during a direct confrontation. Baptiste Gourio had been able to show his “big volume of play” failing to touch a lot of balls. But its first quality is speed. “My favorite thing is the balls deep in the back of the defence. »

A “great potential” for Frank Dechaume

Presented as “a big potential” by Frank Dechaume, Baptiste Gourio performed from the preparation, notably scoring a triple. But this finisher started the season on the bench. “It’s normal, there’s a lot more competition,” he said. I’m starting to get a lot more playing time.”

The number 9 of the Maladrerie, however, had to settle for a single goal, at Equeurdreville (4-2). “At MOS, anyone can score. At Argentan, it was often me who scored. We didn’t have a team at the top of the table, unlike here. Baptiste Gourio nevertheless has the feeling of progressing, in particular because of this greater density.

“If there is the opportunity to go above…”

The young man hopes to continue his march in had and go “to the highest possible level”. Becoming a dominant player on a team applying for the move up is an important step. “In a few years, if there is the opportunity to go play above, I will respond. »

At the same time, Baptiste Gourio is preparing a BPJEPS “physical activities for all” alternately at the club. “I’m going to be in charge of the U7s and I would also like the U13 Bs. Later on, I’ll pass the BMF (Football Instructor Certificate, editor’s note) and continue as an educator or sports coach. »

“No more room for error”

This Saturday November 26, 2022, it is as a player and scorer that Baptiste Gourio will be expected against the reserve team of Alençon. “We absolutely have to win against Alençon and Argentan. Afterwards, we will face Deauville and ASPTT Caen, two teams at the top of the table. We no longer have much room for error. The Maladrerie’s start to the season is considered “mixed but positive” in a season that will certainly hold many surprises. With one match less than the two leading teams, MOS are eight points behind.
