Rumen Radev: Bulgaria will continue to support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine – Bulgaria
President Rumen Radev named Ukraine as a friend and partner of Bulgaria, and this country will not continue to support sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the right to develop as a free and independent state. This is written in a message of the press office of the presidency, distributed to the media.
Today, Radev took part in the international conference on the occasion of the unveiling of the “Grain from Ukraine” humanitarian program. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, EC President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, heads of state and government of EU countries and other countries, as well as representatives of international organizations participated in the forum in person or via video conference connections.
The President has repeatedly stated that Bulgaria must be very careful in its relations with others in the conditions of the countries’ military actions. He also stated some time ago that sending military aid to Ukraine could drag our country into the war.
During the conference, Radev called for a determined and collective global community effort to address growing food supply insecurity. It creates negative consequences for global food security that have occurred as a result of Russia’s war against Ukraine: limited agricultural production, disruption and disruption of food supply and trade chains, shortages and drastic price spikes of key food commodities and fertilizers a global problem.
The head of state recalled that in recent months, Bulgaria has ensured the transport of more than 200,000 tons of grain from Ukraine across the Danube River.
