The councilors of the first city district decided at their meeting on Wednesday that they will propose to the representatives a discussion of the current situation regarding Jindřišská tower. The mayor of Prague 1 Terezie Radoměřská (TOP 09) informed about this, who expects the representatives to decide on the further course of action of the town hall. The listed tower in the historic center of the metropolis is offered for sale by the Prague Archbishopric for 75 million crowns.
“We will discuss the conditions of sale and the extent of foreign legal interest in the tower, and of course also the price, because the amount that has been published and is also apparently ‘starting’ is far beyond the capabilities of our district. If we know it, we will also discuss the capital city’s opinion on a possible purchase,” Radoměřská described.
“Jindříšská věž is one of the architectural symbols of the capital, and therefore we take this issue very seriously,” she added. The next meeting of the council of the first city district should take place on December 14.
As the vicar of the Prague Archdiocese, Jan Balík, stated, the church must act as a good steward and sell property that is economically disadvantageous to it as best as possible. “I regret that the archdiocese did not offer a building of this type for direct sale first to the city or district,” Prague mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates).

He also said that already with the mayor of Radoměř and Prague councilor Jan (TOP 09). They are to meet with representatives of the property administration of the Prague archdiocese.
“If the tower is bought by the municipality, Prague 1 or a person who wants to have such a tower named after him, it doesn’t matter from a business point of view. It’s important for us to give it to the best bidder,” Chabr said.
“Given that the reason for the sale of the tower is its economic disadvantage, I assume that it will also now require some investment,” he pointed out. According to Balík, the monument requires an investment of about 20 to 30 million crowns for repairs.
Jindřišská věž has been leased to Jindřišská věž for a long time. The lease from 2000 was concluded for a period until the end of 2044.
