Professor Eva Sokolova on “Russian interference in the destinies of Bulgaria”: History should be known as it is
On November 22, the new book by Prof. Eva Sokolova was presented at the Regional History Museum in Blagoevgrad – “Russian intervention in the destinies of Bulgaria” (From Tsarist Russia through the USSR… until now!).
“Although there are multi-volume editions dedicated to the history of Bulgaria – as it is said in the preface – although it is taught in Bulgarian schools, unfortunately a significant part of Bulgarians distorts the perception and explanation of the events that our country has gone through since the Liberation from the Ottoman yoke to the present day. The truth is replaced by ideologies and myths. The most dangerous myth is that “There is no other country like Russia, because I can do it in the world”that “She is our support…” and this should be love for I guess everything Russian and necessarily gratitude for giving us freedom. However, its lack of negative interference in the internal and external politics of Bulgaria is jealously kept silent”.
In the audio file, you can hear the conversation with Prof. Eva Sokolova, who briefly wrote about herself that she lived for 11 years in the Third Bulgarian Kingdom, 45 years in the People’s Republic of Bulgaria, 13 years in the budding democracy of the Republic of Bulgaria and as many more years , as God decides, in the XXI century. She was born on September 9, 1933 in Blagoevgrad. She is a professor of physical chemistry. She specialized as a Humboldt scholar in Germany, and defended her doctoral dissertation at the Moscow Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Technology. He is the author of nearly 15 books – textbooks on the specialty, popular scientific works for children and adults in the field of chemistry, essays on marriage, a monograph on his family and even a tome with tried and tested cooking recipes. Above all, she likes to travel, learn about cultures and religions. Her book “Travel, Look, Think” was published last year, developing on almost all continents. With her late husband, the famous lawyer and politician Yordan Sokolov, she shared diverse interests in the fields of music, visual arts and literature. He is the chairman of the charitable organization Civil Forum “Bulgarka”, established in 1998.
We add the opinion of Evelina Kelbecheva, a professor in the Department of “History and Civilization” at the American University in Bulgaria, who presents the book “Russian Intervention in the Destinies of Bulgaria” in Blagoevgrad.
