Portugal knows its opponent in the Davis Cup Qualifiers this Sunday
MALAGA — The Portuguese national team hopes to meet on Sunday, at 11:45 am in Malaga (one hour less in mainland Portugal), the opponent in the Davis Cup Playoffsthe last round before the final phase of the Davis Cup🇧🇷
United States of America (record holders, with 32 titles), France, Great Britain, Spain and Serbia are among the possible opponents of Portugal, who guaranteed their presence in the round of access to the final phase of the competition for the fourth time in history (1994 , 2017, 2019 and 2023) thanks to victory over Brazilby 3-1, in Viana do Castelo in September.
Scheduled for the 3rd and 4th or 4th and 5th of February 2023, the Davis Cup Playoffs will consist of 12 meetings booked all over the world following the history between you. The 12 winning countries were selected for the Davis Cup Finals 2023 along with the two 2022 finalists (Australia and Italy or Canada) and two jokers to be announced before the draw.
Of the remaining teams to be drawn in the Davis Cup Playoffs (before the ceremony two of them jokers who will report them directly to the Davis Cup Finals), at least eight would result in a tie on Portuguese soil, while another eight would mean a trip to the Portuguese national team and the rest would lead to a draw, given that there is no history between the two countries.
