“Portugal became poorer”. Reactions to the death of the “golden bibota”
Fernando Gomes, FC Porto’s golden bibota, died at the age of 66. As the reactions proceed.

Octávio Machado, who was FC Porto’s assistant coach, considers Fernando Gomes’ trajectory to be “impressive” and “remarkable”.
José Fernando Rio, former candidate for the presidency of FC Porto, pays homage to the former player, who was his first football idol.
“He marked an era at FC Porto, he gave everything he had for Porto and his name will be forever linked to the history of FC Porto”, he said.
Fernando Gomes died this Saturday, aged 66, from cancer. The funeral takes place at 3 pm on Sunday, at Igreja das Antas, in Porto.
The forward scored “355 goals in 452 official games for FC Porto. And many of them were decisive”. In addition to FC Porto, the “9” also represented Sporting Gijón and Sporting. For the Portugal national team, he participated in 47 games, scored 11 goals and was among the squad for the 1984 European Championship and the 1986 World Cup.
