Two civic associations from Moldova withdraw their support from an advisor to Minister Sorin Grideanu, whom they accuse of “blatant propaganda” for the PSD.
The “Together for A8” and “Movement for the Development of Moldova” associations sent a notice to the Ministry of Transport on Friday by which they revoke Cătălin Urtoi’s mandate as their representative to Minister Sorin Grindeanu, according to a statement from the two civic platforms.
The two associations accuse Urtoi, advisor to Minister Sorin Grideanu, of “obvious propaganda made to the Social Democratic Party”, but also of “sabotaging the mandate received from civil society, that of putting pressure on the prioritization of the A8 Highway, Ungheni-Iași- Targu Mures”.
“During the mandate of Mr. Urtoi, the A7 and A8 projects, both for our Region, were dangerously far behind: A7 progressed in an important accelerated manner, because it directly serves the interests of the Capital, while the A8 project – the most big. useful for the development of the entire Region – it is moving forward with difficulty, and this gap further deteriorates the cohesion of Moldova, at the same time blocking our rapid communication with Transylvania and further with Europe”, the two associations say.
The representatives of the association show that Urtoi is running for a position in the Board of Directors of the National Road Investment Company (CNIR) and criticize him for putting his personal interest before the mandate he received.
“We want to sanction Mr. Urtoi’s intention to arrogate as personal merits a long and collective work of regional representation, in which not only the two signatory Associations but also other Associations from Iași, from Moldova, unaffiliated citizens, journalists, politicians participate and so on . Just as giving up cannot motivate our goal, neither messianism, civic or of any kind, nor the solution for achieving the objectives, no matter how spectacular they are presented today by Mr. Urtoi”, the two associations say.
