Train traffic between Antwerp and Mechelen disrupted by intervention of emergency services at Central Station (Antwerp)
Due to an intervention by the emergency services in Antwerp Central, train traffic between Antwerp and Mechelen has been partially interrupted. Train tracks 13 and 14 are currently out of use, which limits the S-trains coming from Brussels to Antwerp.
Due to an intervention by the emergency services in Antwerp Central, no train traffic has been possible on train tracks 13 and 14 since 4 p.m. “That means that two of the four tracks, half, on floor -1 are not usable,” says Bart Crols, spokesman for the NMBS.
Nevertheless, there is a limited restriction on rail traffic. “The IC trains to Brussels run according to the normal travel schedule. There are some S-trains, the interrupted slow trains, that can be shortened. For example, the Hasselt-Antwerp trains will be limited to Lier station, the Nivelles-Antwerp trains will stop at Kontich-Lint station,” says Crols.
How long the disruption will last is currently confusing. The NMBS advises train passengers to consult the information screens in the station to plan their journey via the NMBS app or via sncb.be.
